ROESWebStart Install Error: Access to awt.dll Is Denied
Use this article when ROESWebStart installation fails on Windows with an unauthorized access error for awt.dll.

Common symptom
During ROESWebStart installation, Windows reports this error:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'awt.dll' is denied
Cause
The installer cannot write or replace one of the cached ROESWebStart files in the Windows SWROES program-data folder.
ProgramData Is Hidden
ProgramData is a hidden Windows folder. To open it quickly, use Run or the Windows search field and enter:
%PROGRAMDATA%
Fix Steps

Close ROESWebStart
Close ROESWebStart and any ROES installer windows before deleting cached files.

Open the SWROES folder
Open this folder:
C:\ProgramData\SWROES

Delete the contents of SWROES
Delete the contents of the SWROES folder.

Launch or reinstall ROES
After deleting the SWROES contents, launch ROES from the desktop shortcut, or download and run launch.msi again to reinstall.
Expected Result
After the cached SWROES files are removed, ROESWebStart should be able to recreate the needed files and complete the launch or installation.
Escalation Notes
- Confirm the error specifically references awt.dll.
- Confirm all ROESWebStart and installer windows were closed before deleting SWROES contents.
- Confirm the customer deleted the contents of C:\ProgramData\SWROES, not just the visible shortcut or installer file.
- If the error continues, check whether antivirus or Windows permissions are blocking file replacement in ProgramData.
