Product: Template Tool Category: Pricing Audience: Lab / Support Article ID: 78
Overview
There are two methods available in Template Tool for updating prices: Adjust Prices and Export / Import Prices.

Two Methods to Update Prices

1

Adjust Prices

Adjust Prices lets you select a single product, product groups, catalogs, or the highest level of the templates file to affect all products, then apply either a percentage or a delta to change pricing.

2

Export / Import Prices

Export / Import Prices exports a tab-delimited file containing products and options along with key fields such as u_id, label, id, price, and preferredqueue. You can edit the price values, save the file, and import it back into the templates file.

Spreadsheet Tip

To import the exported tab-delimited pricing file into Excel, use Microsoft’s guide here: Import or export text (.txt or .csv) files

Method 1: Adjust Prices

Use Adjust Prices when you want to quickly increase or decrease pricing for a selected scope within the templates file.

  • Select a single product, one or more product groups, a catalog, or the top level of the templates file.
  • Choose whether to apply a percentage change or a delta change.
  • Apply the update to the selected level and affected products.

Method 2: Export / Import Prices

Use Export / Import Prices when you want to review and update pricing in a spreadsheet before bringing the changes back into the templates file.

  1. Export the pricing data from Template Tool.
  2. Open the tab-delimited file in a spreadsheet application.
  3. Modify the price values as needed.
  4. Save the file and import it back into the templates file.

Expected Result

Prices in the templates file should be updated either by applying a direct adjustment in Template Tool or by exporting pricing to a spreadsheet, editing the values, and importing the file back into the templates file.

Escalation Notes

  • If many prices need review, use Export / Import Prices rather than changing each item manually.
  • When editing exported data, modify the price field and preserve the remaining key fields.
  • If using Excel, import the file as a text/tab-delimited file so the columns stay aligned correctly.
  • Always save a backup copy of the original templates file before making broad pricing changes.
